Prize “ Ligue Suisse sur le Cerveau - Hirnliga “ 2016 awarded to Anthony Holtmaat.
The Swiss League for the Brain awards a prize every two years for outstanding brain research. This year’s CHF 20,000 prize went to Professor Anthony Holtmaat and his team at the Department of Fundamental Neuroscience of the Geneva Faculty of Medicine. This is the first time that researchers have successfully demonstrated the mechanism by which silent neurons can participate in learning processes in the brain. These discoveries can open important therapeutic perspectives, especially concerning rehabilitation after stroke and neurodegenerative disorders.
